to be frank

This week I escaped the office early to visit a new exhibition over in Bermondsey. Josef Frank was an Austrian-born architect who fled to Sweden during the 1930s. There he met Astrid Ericsson, founder of Svenskt Tenn, an interior store a bit like Liberty of London, and established himself as one of the most prolific textile designers of the twentieth century. The Fashion and Textile Museum is currently holding host to a large collection of Frank's fabric designs and never seen before watercolours; it is the most wonderful exhibition and I thoroughly recommend anyone who is interested in interiors, fabric design or just beautiful prints to hop on down and give it a visit. And, to make a night of it, on Thursdays FTM is open late - 'til 8 - and you can walk the exhibition with wine and or beers. Who said museums were boring?!

Forget the hype around hygge, this is real Scandinavian style.

I rather fancy reclining on this ^^^ but not sure The American would let it into the house...

It also provided me an opportunity to wander around Bermondsey, an area of London I really don't know too well but somewhere I'd like to see more of. The museum is on Bermondsey Street which is dotted with lovely shops, cafes and pubs. Naturally the buildings are very old and so there's a real sense of character all around. I rather fancied coming back with some girlfriends and popping in for drinks and a bite to eat here:

On Tuesday I'm off to Jamie Oliver's latest opening, Barbecoa on Piccadilly (another work perk), so will be reporting back! I've had a sneak peak at the interiors and menu and it looks delicious and (biased, I know) the interiors are on point.

Until then!
